What
kinds of aviation history are we trying to preserve?
For example, here are some fascinating stories collected and uncovered,
and added to the New Hampshire Aviation Historical Society's archives...
From the Concord Monitor, Friday, June 23, 1978, on Charles Lindbergh's
historic, unexpected landing at the Concord Airport:
The airport in the Heights was the first in the state, and in 1926 it
was described as "the best airport east of the Alleghenies."
But it took Lindbergh's visit to let people know that the airport was
for real. Actually, Lindbergh made two visits to Concord on his barnstorming
tour of 1927.
He was due to arrive on July 25, but when he encountered bad weather on
a flight from Boston to Portland on the 23rd, he decided to put down in
Concord. He landed without incident, and left the airport to spend the
night in a farmhouse five miles outside of town...Reporters from Boston
dashed up when they heard the news.
You can help us preserve these memories!
