Founded
in 1995, the New Hampshire Aviation Historical Society is a nonprofit
organization whose mission is to preserve the history of aviation in
New Hampshire, collecting aviation-related information and artifacts
of the past, present and future.
The Society conducts a regular business meeting every
month unless otherwise decided by the Officers.
An annual meeting is held in the month of September for the purpose
of electing officers, receiving reports, and conducting any other Society
business, as necessary.
The Gee Bee Model A Sport Plane (pictured above) was the
first plane built by the Granville brothers of Madison, New Hampshire
in Boston, Massachusetts. They built nine in Springfield, Massachusetts
followed by a series of sportsters (monoplanes) and finally leading
to the famous
Gee Bee supersportster racers, one of which established
a new world land-air speed record. It was flown by James Doolittle.
