NH Executive Councilor Ray Burton's Annual Tour

This year, NH Executive Councilor Ray Burton began his annual tour of North Country airports from the Aviation Museum of NH.  See what he had to say in the first paragraph of his report of the tour.

"Each year I participate in an informational tour of airports in Executive Council District One.  This years’ tour originated at the NH Aviation Museum at the Manchester Boston Regional Airport with a briefing and tour conducted by Director Jack Ferns.  NH DOT Ass’t Mike Pillsbury and Trish Lambert of the DOT Aviation office also were on hand.   NH is fortunate in having this facility not only for historical artifacts and archives but it also has classroom facilities and works closely with area schools and colleges in the Greater Manchester Area…”

They built nine in Springfield, Massachusetts followed by a series of sportsters (monoplanes) and finally leading to the famous Gee Bee supersportster racers, one of which established a new world land-air speed record. It was flown by James Doolittle. Click here to read more about the Gee Bees.
