Aviation Boneyard by Jay Carter

An aviation boneyard is a descriptive term for the place where obsolete military airplanes go to die.  Jay Carter will shed light on this unusual place located in Arizona when he presents a photographic journal of the US aircraft disposal center in Kingman, Arizona on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 AM at the Aviation Museum of NH.  Jay’s photos bring the boneyard to life, showing not only the diverse number of airplane types that have been dropped from the inventory of the military, but the immense volume of airplanes that have been decommissioned and await the scrapping process.  The presentation is included in the price of admission, and is free to museum members.  However, seating is limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Lady of the Air by Dawn Sterling

Harriet Quimby was the first female U.S. licensed pilot.  She was the first woman to fly across the English Channel.  The true story of her brief flying career is nothing short of amazing.  Dawn Sterling spent ten years researching this American aviatrix and has written the definitive screenplay about her life.  She has produced a biopic that will be shown during her presentation that highlights many of this young woman's achievements.  Seating is limited and included in the price of admission.  Museum members attend free.
