Son of downed U-2 spy plane pilot to speak in N.H. about his father's controversial Cold War legacy
On May 1, 1960, U.S Air Force Capt. Francis Gary Powers plummeted out of the sky and into a diplomatic crisis when he was shot down during an espionage mission over the Soviet Union. On Thursday, June 16, the Aviation Museum welcomes his son, Francis Gary Powers Jr., to a lecture and book-signing to be held at the Town Hall Theater in Wilton, N.H.
